Oak Bowl May 2015 (part 1 of 2)

Just like the last Yew bowl I posted on this blog today is a older Oak bowl that has been stored in a cardboard this year. The bowl tightly sealed in its own sawdust, which helpfully has helped to absorb and dry out the timber.

I feel it is a series of trial and error turning green timber, some times they don’t warp some times they do, some times the warping adds character and some times the bowls just crack all of the place.

It’s nice to get to this stage and see the bowl has not gone into a rugby ball shape and still kept its circular pattern.
